A NEW DESIGN FOR THE CATHAYS COMMUNITY CENTRE IN CARDIFF. THE BUILDING IS INSPIRED BY THE INDUSTRIAL AND BRUTALIST ERAS OF CARDIFF. THE BUILDING IS FRAGMENTED, THUS FORCING YOU TO GO OUTSIDE AND EXPERIENCE MORE OF THE ARCHITECTURE. THE FRAGMENTED ARRANGEMENT IS INSPIRED BY CARDIFF'S RENOWNED ARCADES, A SERIES OF HIDDEN WORLDS WHERE A VARIETY OF PEOPLE CAN COEXIST.

THE LOWER LEVEL IS CONSTRUCTED FROM BOARD-MARKED CONCRETE WHILST THE UPPER IS OF WELSH SLATE. CORTEN STEEL IS FEATURED THROUGHOUT TO PROVIDE A BRIGHT CONTRAST TO THE OTHERWISE GREY PALLET.

THE COMMUNITY CENTRE IS AIMED TOWARDS A VARIETY OF PEOPLE, WITH MORE OF A FOCUS ON CREATIVE ACTIVITIES.
